ISOLATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF BACTERIO PHAGESAGAINST MULTIPLE DRUG RESISTANT PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA WITH USING THE BACTERIOPHAGE AS A THERPY IN THE MICE MODEL 2017-11-29 Iraq One of the most common pathogens that are multidrug resistant and colonize burns wounds is Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This led researchers to find alternative treatment, so bacteriophages were alternative treatment methods used against bacterial infections. The phages were isolated from sewage and urine. Morphology of purified phages was examined by using the transmission electron microscopy. The titer of phage was determined by using plaque assay by serial dilutions (10-1 to 10-12).The therapeutic effectiveness of phage for treatment of mice infected with MDR P. aeruginosa was determined. Four types of phages were isolated from sewage and urine. The our results showed that giving of the dose phage injection and orally was very effective after the bacterial challenge, this has helped in the speed of recovery, so that reduced the death rates. Blood culture of mice treated with phage dose appeared no viable P. aeruginosa cells in their blood compared to the positive groups. Our study present evidence in murine models that animals infected with MDRs P. aeruginosa can be successfully treated with specific bacteriophages that target these MDRs microbe.
ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF MULTI DRUG RESISTANT BIOFILM PRODUCER PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA FROM PATIENTS WITH BURN WOUND INFECTION IN BASRA PROVINCE/IRAQ 2017-08-29 Iraq Clinical specimens were collected from 120 patients, 44 of them are males and 76 females with age range 1-70 years. A total of 49(40.8%) isolates were diagnosed as P. aeruginosa based on a number of tests and confirming by using 16SrDNA gene specific for P. aeruginosa. Results showed that the highest antibiotic resistance was in 40(81.6%) isolates resistant to Amikacin (AK), while 26(53.1%) isolates were sensitive to Colistin (CT). All isolates were resistant to more than three antibiotics, therefore classified P. aeruginosa as MDR .Also, some selective isolate showed the ability to form biofilm by using Cong Red method.
Use Siphoviridae bacteriophage as a treatment for mice infected with MDR Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Histopathology study 2019-03-25 Iraq The study was carried out to isolate, purify and quantification of bacteriophages against Multiple Drugs Resistance (MDR) P. aeruginosa, and using a bacteriophage as a treatment for mice experimentally. Four groups (Intraperitoneal injection group, local swab group, Positive group, and Negative group) of animals were tested for purpose of using lytic phages of Siphoviridae family as a treatment for MDRs P. aeruginosa isolated from patients suffering from moderate to severe burns wound infection. The current study presents evidence in murine models that animals can be successfully treated with specific bacteriophages that target these MDRs microbes.
